Ka-ching!

We'll be grooving when the sun goes down
July 12, 2004, Monday

Spent the weekend reading up for today's Statistics test which had turned out to be quite OK. In between calculating the probabilities to hypothetical situations, I managed to set up my brother's blog, tried McDonalds' new menu items, visited KwangYang's travelblog, watched The Amazing Race, got myself a Gmail account (a big thanks to Jeremy!), and read The Alchemist.

My younger brother has finally decided to hop on to the bandwagon; he now pens a blog entitled Pro-xinmetriz (don't ask why). Do give it a visit. Spurred on by Huai Bin's (of Sixthseal fame) favourable review, I jogged to a nearby McDonald's and gave McD's Crispy Prawn Burger and Prawn Wrappers a go. The verdict: The prawn burger was rather good but give the Prawn Wrappers a miss; it tasted oddly like one particular brand of junk food and it wasn't really worth the money.

The wise-cracking KwangYang (a friend of mine) is back with a brand new travelblog; go read about his Thai Escapade in Tom Yam Soup for The Heartless Soul. He also penned an equally interesting read in MY to NZ, a travelblog he started while backpacking in New Zealand last year. Speaking of travelling, the new season of The Amazing Race is here. Watched the rerun on AXN on Sunday morning; new twists to the game like Yield will no doubt tip the balance of favourability at the most crucial of moments. Have a feeling that this season will be the best yet.

Thanks to Jeremy of Orange-Works, I've got myself 1GB of free email storage at Gmail! The invitation-based system that the Gmail team is employing is not exactly fair; it creates artificial demand by limiting supply. Give Jeremy's blog a visit; he still has several invitations to give away. While you're there, check out his comment box; it's really cool and has got to be the first of its kind. Another first of its kind: The Alchemist. The book is mind-bogglingly simple yet deep in its message. It's a very philosophical piece of work; definitely warrants a second helping.

To make the photo above somewhat relevant to this post, I would like to share Kenny Chesney's When the Sun Goes Down (taken offline). It's a rather catchy tune, but in tandem with my interpretation of fair use, it'll be up for only a short period of time. You'll love the song, that I promise.
