Ka-ching!

September 09, 2004, Thursday

It was one of those things that you do for experience sake. Went to a party of sort at college with a couple of friends yesterday. Problem was, we weren't really supposed to be there. So, it was like going to a party uninvited. Not something I would want to do anytime soon, but it was quite fun. If you're interested in pulling off the same thing, here's a short guide:

Crashing Parties How-to (according to Smartass plus a couple of my own additions):
a) Act busy. Help out at whatever that makes the party run.
b) Blend into the background; don't make yourself conspicuous.
c) Start a conversation with some of the legitimate party-goers; it'll help make you look like you belong.
d) Don't look awkward; you're there for the experience and to have fun.
e) Leave as soon as you have enough fun before the selfish people who didn't invite you in the first place realise you're having fun.

There, hope that little guide helps. Enough crap for today; on to the serious stuff. Have you guys updated to Windows XP Service Pack 2? Not yet? Then, don't! It takes up more than 1GB of your hardrive and it's not that helpful an update; more of a nuisance if you ask me. Had problem connecting to the internet using hostel's LAN connection and college's wireless connection with the update installed. It would have been at least a bit useful if an antivirus program is included. But no, you still have to rely on Norton and pay for that oft-updated virus definitions. I've since jettisoned the update and not missing it.

Anyway, here are some of the best advertising campaigns you could ever find on the net. First off, Angus Diet. Angus Diet isn't really a real diet. Nor is the guy, Dr. Angus, who is an ardent proponent of his new invention. The Angus Diet is a dig on the more popular Atkins Diet and it serves as an ad campaign for Burger King's new "Angus" beef burger. The gimmick creative people come up with nowadays...

Next on the list is Emerald Nuts. A rather self-explanatory name they have; EN is supposedly a nutricious snack that comes in the form of nuts. Much more interesting than its name is the TV ads; they can be quite lame or highly creative depending on the people you ask. Very funny, that's for certain.

Here's one last cool find: JC. I love their ads; they're witty and if not for the fact that am running low on dough, would definitely buy myself a pair of JC jeans. Not that I wear jeans that often though; hate the lack of pockets. Am more of a cargo pants guy; need those pockets for wallet, keys, iPod, Swiss Army Knife, and odds and ends.

To Chris who is leaving for Ireland today, I bid you farewell! Have a great flight! The lepakgang and I will surely miss you! Remember to write often, k?
