Ka-ching!

Work in Progress
October 21, 2004, Thursday

I'm in no mood to blog, so here's a short update just so that you know Odds&Ends is alive albeit in hibernating mode.

To fit it between some ads and movie listing, my newspaper article on silly school rules and regulations (a piece many may think reeks of anarchism) came out truncated; huge chunks were left out, sacrificing the flow of the article. Had it entitled "I Fought The Law" in tribute to Green Day's song of the same title but was changed instead to "Obsolete School Rules". Will post it unedited and some select articles in due time.

Downloaded Google Desktop Search. It's pretty impressive; key in any words in the search box and the related web pages, files and emails will come up in less than a sec. If your computer is home to files you might not want anyone to know you own, you might want to think twice about downloading the free app. Desktop creates an index and copies of your files, emails and web history. Apparently, there's a serious privacy issue inherent in such a procedure. Google offers a dubious "Your Google Desktop Search index and copies are currently stored only on your computer" to ease our mind. Nontheless, it's a great substitute to what Windows has to offer; it totally trumps the built-in search application in XP.

Add songs to your music collection by joining this music experiment approved by Columbia University. Listen to the songs and rate them. You're allowed to download the songs legally for your effort. Personal favourite: Not For Scholars' As Seasons Change.

There you go, the very first Odds&Ends quickie. Now, a short message from the sponsor (cue ad jingle): Please take notice and click on the Google ads if they interest you, won't ya?
