Ka-ching!

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has an amazing architecture. Photographed above is the oil palm tree-inspired roof which I find extremely interesting with its curves and lines. Photo vertically-inverted for visual impact.

Dispirited by the tedium of college life (which involves studying and preparing for exams), I'm glad to have come across this Wired article on the works of Jonathan Harris. Harris, an "information architect", designs simple yet elegant interfaces that present data in a visually-pleasing way. It's heartening to note that creative intellectual pursuit instead of mindless facts regurgitating (as is the way to please the examiners) is appreciated in the real world.

It's interesting playing the role of creator but not creating the finished product - Jonathan Harris

10x10, one of Harris's latest labour-of-loves, is an amazing piece of work. Tapping into RSS feeds of news sources the like of Reuters and BBC, 10x10 presents what it regards as the top 100 words along with 100 related photos arranged in a grid of 10x10 (hence the name) every hour. This gives a the-world-in-a-glance result; the "This is Now" tagline couldn't have been more apt in that respect.

Do check out the article for more in-depth look at Harris's portfolio and how he livens up boring information. Hope he does the same for economics theories one of these days.
