Ka-ching!

October 07, 2005, Friday

It's the grand opening of the Odds&Ends online store (read on to find out more)! Yay, balloons to mark the joyous occasion! Photo shot a few months back; I was supposed to have my viewfinder trained on the kids at the holiday camp but those bright red balloons against the blue sky caught my fancy and I just had to grab a shot.

My parents always say I have a bad habit of not following through. Whenever I want to learn anything new which requires a serious amount of dough, they would kindly remind me of the time I stopped going for swimming lessons after just 4 sessions. While that might have been true, it wasn't because I didn't like swimming anymore; it was just that I didn't like being made to feel stupid. And my swimming coach had a big talent in doing so.

I'd been holding off opening the Odds&Ends store for more than a year. As not to add to an already extensive list of ammunition my parents could use to shoot down legitimate reasons for me to take foreign language classes, I've finally got round to setting up the store (see, mama and papa; I'm capable of following through!). On the online store (link to the store is a permanent fixture on the main navigation on your left), you could find the Odds&Ends postcards. Yeap, those limited edition for-display-postcards (they feature my all-time favourite shot) are finally available for purchase! Isn't that exciting? I'm going to be freaking rich by selling postcards! Yay.

I shall do a sales spiel before I count the chickens. So, why would you want to buy those postcards apart from the obvious reason that they're limited in quantity (a new set of postcards will replace the inaugural edition in the coming weeks) and therefore would rise in value in a decade or in the event that I do become famous some day (that, in essence, means that your purchase is potentially a viable investment)? They look good, that's why!

Being a would-be cash cow aside, the postcards look amazing; they'll be great for adorning your bathroom wall, desks and on whatever that so strikes your fancy. Let's not forget too that they're postcards; that means you could send them to anyone anywhere (though, if I were you, I would keep them in a vault; they might just be your ticket to an early retirement!).

On a serious note though, by making the purchase, you're doing me and the site a big favour. With your help, I wouldn't have to eat crappy food every day; I can't afford to have a decent meal what with the cost of food here. With your largesse too, I'll be able to keep the site going for a little bit longer. So, postcards, anyone?
