Ka-ching!

March 11, 2006, Saturday

The construction site right opposite my hall of residence. You might recognise the drilling machine from this picture and the house across the canal from this one.

I find doing certain things therapeutic. For awhile, I turned to cooking to reach that elusive state of inner peace. I've found yet another way to help me not think about the shitty things I've to deal with in my life: watching construction machineries at work. As I watch the excavator digs up dirt, spins and releases its bounty, all in that smooth rhythmic motion, my train of thoughts goes something like this:

Shite, bloody coursework due on Monday - Double shite, I've to catch up on Lost but I can't multitask - Who says I can't? Oh yea, that friend of mine who got all worked up as he accused me of judging his morality - I can't multitask? Who's doing the judging now? - Fuck - I don't usually curse but I like people who curse - I like people who don't think "I'm cleverer-than-thou" - Clever people built that amazing piece of machinery - Dig, spin, release - Release me from pent-up negative energy, Great O' Digger! Heal me! - Great view of the canal! - I should go for a walk by the canal again - O' life can't get any better!

Notice how the negative thoughts change imperceptibly into positive ones? So, what do you find therapeutic?
